Broncos return home and pound Prairie View A&M 92-53

Kalamazoo, MI (WKZO) – After losing all three games during their most recent road swing, a return to University Arena was all the Western Michigan men’s basketball needed to get back on the winning track.

Prairie View A&M scored the first basket of the game but the Panthers were then held scoreless for the next seven minutes and 33 seconds as the Broncos (6-5) rolled off 19 unanswered points and cruised to an easy 92-53 victory over the Panthers.

Five Broncos scored in double figures led by David Brown’s 15 on 6 for 11 shooting in 27 minutes. Jared Klein had 14 and Charles Harris and AJ Avery scored had 12 and 10, respectively, off bench for WMU, outscored the Panther’s bench 48-10.  

Taylor Perry, making his third straight start in the place of the injured Tucker Haymond, hauled in nine boards and now has 31 in his three starts.

WMU led 40-24 at halftime and lead by as much as 43 in the second half.  Demondre Chapman was the leading score for Prairie View (2-9) with 23.

GAME NOTES: This was the first ever matchup between the Broncos and Panthers…Connar Tava had 10 points, his third straight game in double figures…The Broncos shot 56.9% from the field (33-58)…The Broncos don’t take the court again until January 2nd when Sienna Heights comes to Kalamazoo.
