TERRE HAUTE (WIBQ/WTWO)-Terre Haute city councilman Turk Roman is suspended without pay.

This comes just days after a jury convicted him of a felony. The charge stems from a 2008 incident, where Roman flashed his city council badge impersonating a police officer.

Roman will be suspended until he is sentenced on April 30th.

State law prohibits felons to serve public office.

Unless a judge intervenes, Roman will automatically be removed from the city council after his sentencing. After Roman's sentencing, he will have 30 days to appeal. After the 30 days, the Democratic Party could appoint roman's replacement on the council.
