UNDATED (WKZO) -- The Michigan Department of Transportation is installing more of those cable guardrails in the median of I-94 this summer. MDOT's Nick Schirripa tells us that work begins April 12th to add another 21 miles of the cable rails, which are designed to stop motorists from going into the opposite side of traffic when there's a crash on the highway.

Schirripa says that the guardrails saved lives in Southwest Michigan this winter. He says that MDOT is fixing those parts of the cable guardrails that were knocked down in various winter crashes as the construction season continues. The two-point-four million dollar project to add more is scheduled for completion in October.
