MIAMI (Reuters) - Law enforcement officials were interviewing a passenger at Miami's international airport on Tuesday after a small explosion in a bag on the tarmac in an incident that caused no injuries or damage, authorities said.
The bag was checked by a passenger on an American Airlines flight that arrived in Miami from Boston, and authorities later determined it contained "firearm parts," the Transportation Security Administration said.
"The passenger is currently being interviewed by law enforcement," a TSA statement said.
A spokeswoman with the Miami-Dade Police Department told Reuters authorities were investigating whether the explosion was caused by "an aerosol can or something criminal."
Several gates at the airport were closed for at least two hours while authorities launched their investigation, Miami airport spokesman Mark Henderson said.
Air traffic at the airport was uninterrupted.
