LANSING (WKZO) -- Right now licensed firearms dealers are required to check in with local law enforcement every time they plan to buy or possess a gun.

The State House has voted 104 to 3 to lift that requirement, because as licensed dealers, they have already had to pass a screening process for possessing guns.

Sponsor Jase Bolger of Marshall said it will free up law enforcement and eliminate unnecessary paperwork. Portage Republican Larry DeShazor also voted for it. The bill now heads to the State Senate.
