BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) E.P.A. and Calhoun County officials held a press conference to announce the evacuation of 100 homes near the contaminted Kalamazoo river following this week's oil spill which officials are now saying may have spilled over 1 million gallons of oil.
Calhoun County Health Officer Jim Rutherford spoke before Enbridge Energy Partners team followed the press conference. Rutherford said the water is being tested and he is still waiting on the results of the quality.
The word is that the people living in the evacuated homes are being put up in hotels while Enbridge Energy Partners is providing bottled water to homes whose drinking water may be affected by the spill.
