TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WIBQ) - A 39 year old Winslow man is facing charges after a hit and run accident with a State Trooper. According to police the trooper was east on I-70 when a van driven by Lazaro Castro allegedly cut in front of the fully marked patrol car. Castro then slammed on his brakes as he approached a U-Turn reserved for emergency vehicles, causing the trooper to hit the van.

Police say that the van's driver stopped only briefly before taking off westbound on I-70. An off duty Vigo County Deputy eventually located the van and with the help of another trooper Castro was arrested, charged with being a Habitual Traffic Violator, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage accident and was issued miscellaneous traffic citations. The officer, Constance Ehman, was not injured in the crash.
