KALAMAZOO -- Just because summer is over, that doesn’t mean the fun comes to a screeching halt around here. In fact it’s going to get pretty busy this weekend. The Paw Paw Wine and Harvest Festival will celebrate the grape harvest and the west Michigan wine industry. Many events offer alcoholic beverages, this is the one that actually celebrates them. It begins Friday and runs thru Sunday.
Saturday at 1PM, there will be a 9-11 commemorative service in Bronson Park, to not only mark the occasion of the nation’s worst terrorist attack, but to say thank you to local police and fire services.
The ComUniverCity night tailgate event at WMU is Saturday afternoon, just before the home opener at Waldo Stadium. The party begins at 4 and the game begins at 7pm.
The big event this weekend is the annual gathering of the Street Rods at the fairgrounds and expo center. Street Rods Nationals North Plus event roars into town for the 24th straight year. And this year it’s bigger, with the addition of a whole new class of custom and collectors cars invited to the big show. Registration starts Thursday and the event runs this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They have information for anyone wanting to enter a vehicle or just to attend online at NSRA-USA.com.
