MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - The Manitowoc County sheriff said alcohol was apparently a factor when a van struck and killed three people who were standing on a lawn near Two Rivers.
Sheriff Robert Hermann identified the victims Thursday as 79-year-old Lawrence Gerroll, his 75-year-old wife Lou, and their 49-year-old daughter Joan Gerroll.
The van driver was a 43-year-old Manitowoc woman. She was still hospitalized in Green Bay at last word, along with her six-year-old son.
The coroner’s office said the Gerrolls all died from blunt force trauma, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the 3 were watching a roofing project at the home of the couple’s son, when the van careened down an embankment into the yard.
The State Patrol planned to reconstruct the scene to look for clues on the cause of the mishap.
Sheriff Hermann called it a “very terrible accident.”
