ANN ARBOR (WKZO) -- Even though applications are still being accepted, the University of Michigan has set another record for the most freshmen enrollee applications in an academic year. Provost Philip Hanlon announced Monday that the university has received 41,600 freshman applications to date for the upcoming 2012-2013 academic year.
The university received just over 39,500 total applications for the current academic year, which was a 25-percent increase over the previous year's enrollment. Although there has been a significant increase in the number of applications, Hanlon says the university does not plan to increase the size of the freshman class due to space constraints.
The university accepted 6,300 freshmen students for 2011-2012, but plans to drop freshmen enrollment to under six-thousand for the upcoming academic year.
