KALAMAZOO (WKZO) - Today marks Ash Wednesday for celebrating Christians kicking off the season of Lent until the Easter holiday. 

Lent is a ceremonial 40-day period of fasting that followers undertake the personal sacrifice to honor their savior Jesus Christ. Many people without church affiliation also partake in Lent for personal health reasons giving up sweets, fast foods, and even technologies that have become unhealthy addictions.

St. Thomas More: 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. 

St. Joseph Catholic Church: 12:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m.
