KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- With 2,920 people at Lawson arena Saturday night, the Western Michigan Broncos found themselves in another nailbiter taking on the St. Lawrence Saints.  After last nights disappointing  overtime loss the Broncos came out strong and kept up that ferocity throughout the game.  Western showed a major improvement on their power play unit as well.

The Broncos got on the scoreboard early as Nolan LaPorte got the first goal of his college career.  The score stayed 1-0 until the second when the Saints added two goals of their own from Kyle Flanagan and Chris Martin.  Even with their backs against the wall the Broncos kept fighting back, adding two third period goals from Dan DeKeyser and Garrett Harr clinching the 3-2 victory.

After going 0-7 on the powerplay yesterday, the Broncos knew that they needed to improve in that area.  They ended their drought finding the back of the net on 2 of 8 powerplays.  Those numbers still need to improve but it's drastically better than last night.  One area where Western kept up their dominance was their shot totals.  The Broncos outshot the Saints 42-19 on the night.

Western Michigan will take on Canisius October 19th and 20th at 7:05 in Kalamazoo.
