OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Construction barriers are there for a reason, as a Kalamazoo County woman found out the hard way last night.
Last night a woman ignored the barriers and tried to take her car over the Amtrak tracks at 4th Street in Oshtemo, where they are repairing the crossing.
You can almost guess what happened next.
The car got stuck on the tracks and was hit by an Amtrak train going 60-mph.
The car wasn’t just totaled. It was torn in half and turned into scrap.
By then the woman and her son had gotten out, but they did stick around to watch.
Deputies say she could face charges and have to pay for any damage to the train.
None of the 188 passengers on board were injured.
