LUDINGTON (WKZO) -- Eric Knysz has been found guilty on all counts and will receive mandatory life in prison without parole for the shooting death of State Trooper Paul Butterfield.
His fate was sealed when his wife, Sarah Knysz testified Monday that Eric apologized to her just before he shot the trooper, saying he didn’t want to go to prison.
In that one sentence she established his motive and that it was premeditated murder.
Eric asked his own attorney not to challenge her testimony, saying he had caused her enough pain.
The jury needed less than two hours to return with a guilty verdict on all five charges against him, first degree murder, car theft, carrying a concealed weapon, a felony firearms county and being a habitual offender.
He will be sentenced next month..
