KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- There are some changes coming to Kalamazoo area high school sports. Starting in 2015, the Kalamazoo Valley Association will be going away, and six of the eight teams in it will be moving to the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Jerry Weesies, Athletic Director at Kalamazoo Christian High School, says that the chance could be good for the area's smaller schools.
"It's getting tougher and tougher to field some of the teams that we normally field, especially in football," Weesies told WKZO. "So, this is going to give us options for scheduling that we wouldn't have had staying as the eighth school in the KVA."
The Kalamazoo Valley Association is disappearing because of scheduling issues. The new arrangement will take effect with the athletic season of 2015-2016.
