KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kent County homeowners and crews could be cleaning up for days or weeks along a 6-mile long trail of damage from Wyoming to Kentwood left by an EF-1 tornado that battered homes and trees with winds of up to 110 mph Sunday night.
Southwest Michigan was mostly untouched by Sunday night’s stormy weather, but we can learn a lesson from the victims of that tornado in Kent County. You can't depend solely on the weather warning system for your safety.
Victims say they received no watches, no warnings no sirens: just the terrifying sound of swirling winds, trees falling and objects smashing into their homes.
Meteorolgist Daniel Cobb says this one slipped under their radar.
