KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A woman riding bikes with her grandchildren, near Douglas Ave. at North St. was violently mugged by a teenager with a handgun at about 6:45 last evening.
The sixteen-year-old blocked her path and demanded that she hand over everything in her pockets.
When she said she didn’t have any pockets, he pistol whipped her, knocking her to the ground.
He then grabbed her bike and rode off on it.
. She was found bleeding on the sidewalk, and transported to Borgess Medical Center for treatment.
The children were not hurt.
The teen was stopped about 3 blocks away and arrested. The pistol turned out to be a pellet gun.
