WASHINGTON (WKZO) -- The First Family held a working families Summit at the White House yesterday to address issues affecting American families at home and in the workplace.
President Obama made a call for action in light of new statistics that show how dismally the U.S. supports working families compared to other countries.
The National Partnership for Women and Families gives Michigan a failing grade for the supports it provides to families.
The report's author, Vickie Shabo says Michigan is not alone. Michigan and 16 other states do nothing beyond federal law to support leave time, job protection, pregnancy accommodation and breastfeeding.
She points at the White House summit as a positive step.
