PAW PAW (WKZO) -- An Ottawa County man with a criminal history is sitting in the Van Buren County Jail this morning after he went for a drive and got pulled over for a traffic infraction on 72nd St. near County Road 378 in Covert Township about 4 p.m. Thursday.
The traffic ticket is the least of his problems.
The deputy noticed the driver appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and asked him to do a dexterity test. He apparently flunked.
Deputies say 27-year-old Thomas Spangler from Holland was not just driving under the influence, but he was driving without a valid driver’s license behind the wheel of a car that was not registered or insured.
Spangler is also wanted on outstanding bench warrants in Benton Township and in Ottawa County.
Deputies say they also found meth, materials for making meth, marijuana and .45 caliber ammunition in the car.
Spangler has been charged with six counts so far and more may be piled on later.
