KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A Kalamazoo man who was charged with shooting and killing a woman on Cobb St. during a gunfight with another man last year, has been bound over to stand trial for murder.
Testimony revealed that Dawon Jackson had been dating the victim, Tawana Henderson for nearly two years and was standing by her when he was approached by James Shaver.
There had been a prior dispute between the two men.
A witness testified that Shaver fired first, missing Jackson and hitting Henderson.
Then apparently Jackson just started pulling the trigger, on a gun he grabbed from a third party, critically wounding but not killing Shaver.
Shaver is charged with open murder, assault and four gun felonies.
He is already doing time in a state prison on another charge.
